137 RETOUCHING AND COVERING VARNISH
Available in bottles of 250 and 125 ml.
This is another traditional product which as its name implies is used in very thin coats as a covering varnish. It is easily spread in thin layers.
It’s highly recommended for in the aqua-tint technique to obtain shadings of tone and to maintain blank.
138/ PROTECTING AND AQUATINT VARNISH
Available in bottles of 1000, 250 and 125 ml.
This excellent varnish is alcohol based and an exclusive product of the Artools line.
It is good to be used for the finishing touch at the aqua-tint technique. It’s a good protector for possible corrosion of graved parts. It’s opaque, highly resistant to acid and heat, and it dries well.
139/ SOLVENT LIFT GROUND
Available in bottles of 1000, 250 and 125ml.
This absorbing and solving varnish removes anything on grounds prepared with black satin varnish or black wax. Areas treated with varnish or wax to be removed are painted with the solvent varnish, and after a few minutes rub it out gently with a soft rag.
This way the parts that have been treated with solvent varnish with a brush or a feather will expose the surface of the metal again, and the plate will be ready to be corroded.
140 SOLUBLE INK (SUGAR LIFT)
Available in bottles of 1000, 250 and 125 ml.
This ink is used in the Technique of the Feather or Sugar Lift.
It’s directly applied on the virgin plate. To expose the drawing with soluble ink you varnish it with black satin varnish or black wax, and once they are dry you immerse the complete plate in template water. The ink, which is soluble and oil rejecting, solves under the water exposing the painted parts which then allow you to go on with the corrosion.
142 SOFT BLACK VARNISH OR ROLLER VARNISH
Available in lumps of 100 gr
This varnish is applied with a roller and is used to ground the plate’s surface which hasn’t been worked on, being able to give more depth to some etchings after several corrosions.
